International Youth Day – August 12

12 August was designated as International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999. It is an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in promoting human rights and development. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges and hardships facing the world’s youth.

The theme of International Youth Day 2020, “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.

Within the “WB&T for EmploYouth” five youth organizations countries: Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation (Serbia), Prima Association (Montenegro), Mladiinfo International (North Macedonia), Partners Albania – for Change and Development (Albania), and Community Volunteers Foundation (Turkey) organized joint action on their social media accounts with inspiring stories and designs.

One of the biggest challenges in all countries is related to the economic dimension, the issue of employment of young people during Covid19 so we decided this should be the topic of the stories.

The Project is supported by the European Commission, as part of its efforts towards the continuous upgrading of the relationship of public authorities with the youth.
