Macedonian youth aged 14 to 30 years from February, 22 until May 8, 2017 will have the opportunity to apply their ideas about social business and win a cash prize, as well as incubation, mentoring, networking and participation in the international event in the field social entrepreneurship.
All of this is happening under the umbrella of the Social Impact Award, which for the third time is organized in Macedonia. This award is already present in 18 countries, and it is supported by ERSTE Foundation and Impact Hub Vienna. In Macedonia, Social Impact Award is implemented by the Association for education Mladiinfo International, in partnership with the Sparkasse Bank Macedonia Pakomak JSP Skopje Marathon Conto Profit Fund for innovation and technological development.
“Young people can apply with their ideas for social business through the platform of the award – http://socialimpactaward.mk. In this way, young people get the opportunity to become one of the finalists, who in the summer will have opportunity to work with experts / mentors to further develop their idea. Furthermore, in September the jury will select three winners, who will receive 2,000 euros from Sparkasse bank. Fourth Award, voted on -line by the SIA community will receive additional mentoring. All four teams in early November will go to an international meeting of young social entrepreneurs in Belgrade”, said Maria Matovski – National coordinator of the program.
On the opening of the Social Impact Award 2017, which took place in the Public Room on 22.02.2017 at 12 am, Elena Bogdanova, Sparkasse Bank – Macedonia and Jasmina Popovska, Director of the Fund for innovation and technological development, also addressed the audience stressing the importance of fostering the social entrepreneurship in Macedonia.
This was followed by a panel discussion with the three winners of Social Impact Award 2016.
The Social Impact Award is a competition and educational program that supports entrepreneurial ideas among students who have the potential to develop and implement innovative solutions in solving global problems.
